That is entirely misleading.
carbon dioxide is not carbon.

are they right?
Well, if we look at the big picture, we find something surprising.
For most of the history of life on earth,
carbon dioxide has been present in the atmosphere at much higher levels than it is today.
During the Cambridgeian explosion,
when multi-cellular life first came on the scene,
CO2 levels are as much as 10 times higher than they are today.
From a big picture perspective,
we're actually living in a low carbon dioxide era.
The optimum level of CO2 for plant growth,
for example,
is 4–5 times what is currently found in our atmosphere.
That's why green house growers worldwide actually inject additional CO2 into their greenhouses.
They want to promote plant growth.
Likewise,
higher CO2 levels in the global atmosphere will boost food and forest productivity.
That will come in handy,
since by mid-century we will have to feed 8–10 מיליון אנשים.
In fact,
we're already seeing the positive effects of increased carbon dioxide now.

The record number of fires burning across Brazil's Amazon rainforest has prompted renewed global outcry over climate change.
Meanwhile,
ביל גייטס is back in the first high altitude experiment of one radical climate solution,
creating a massive chemical cloud that could cool the earth.
It's called Solar Geo-Engineering and it's highly controversial.
How long will it be that countries keep
experiencing these climate impacts these climate
before someone gets desperate and says,

we need to cool the planet with Solar Geo-Engineering.
It would look something like this.
Thousands of planes would fly very high and use nozzles to inject
millions of tons of light reflecting particles into the stratosphere.
It would create a thin chemical cloud of those particles around the whole planet,
blocking some sunlight from reaching the surface.
It would mimic a giant volcanic eruption, which we know cools the earth.
But it also comes with significant risks and uncertainties.
things like mass famine, mass flooding,
drought,
of kinds that will affect very large populations.

It could eradicate blue sky.
You start increasing the amount of diffuse light and you have less direct light,

But one reason this technology is appealing,
it's cheap.
One study estimates that it would cost an average of 2.25
million globally every year, for the first 15 years of deployment.

it doesn't require big innovation,
